Hi All,
I want to remind everyone I am not calling anyone out just going over the rules so that we are all playing on the same field. It is important that we discuss the rules so please bring up your questions and thoughts on these or anything else you saw this weekend. 90% of the game is super fun and easy. There are just a few situations now and then that get confusing. I, along with hopefully you, get a lot of knowledge out of discussing the rules and solidifying the correct rules in my mind. Repetition is the best way to learn something. Even if you are new and were confused about something this weekend that seems like everyone knows; I guarantee you that at least one other person would benefit from you bringing it up here and discussing it.
These are from the last few GR and Kzoo events.
___
Bane: As long as either party has the appropriate Bane still available to them they can continue to call Bane.
Reflect Magic: If you cast a spell on someone and both you and the target have a reflect, you can both use your reflect magic so that in the end the original target is the last to get hit with the spell.
Charging: You cannot do it. Basically if you are within an arm length of your opponent you are charging. But wait, I did it just for one second to get one hit in, is that okay. No it is not. If they stop and you stop within an arm length, the last person to stop needs to move backwards until the charging situation is resolved. What if I am not fighting them or I just want to squeeze between the two fighters to get the caster. Nope, you cannot come within an arm’s length of anyone that is your opponent, generally NPCs vs PCs.
Protective Hierarchy: Poison Shield/Dumb Resists (Shield Magic, Magic Armor, Reflect Magic, Elemental Shield, etc.) before Resist <effect> like Resist Poison. See page 87 of the rulebook for order of protectives; protectives with a star in Figure 6-1 can be used at any level closer to the person.
Possession/Spell Grounding (page 86): Here is the text from the rulebook. “”Any item you throw, toss, or let go of is still considered to be in your possession until it lands and comes to a complete rest. Any attack that hit such an item before it lands and comes to rest will affect its possessor. If the attack targets the thrown/dropped item directly, such as Shatter or Destroy, the item is still affected.””
Enslavement: It is also acts as a Charm Spell as well as enslavement. They are still your best bud if you do not get any other information from them.
Create Undead: You are a mindless berserker if you are not given any commands. You do not just stand up and get hit without fighting because you were not given any commands. Also you have no skills other than the ability to use weapons and claws, so if you have a +2 sword you swing “4 Magic.” Create Undead only lasts for 5 minutes.
Dying and Defenses: When you are dying (at -1) or unconscious your Shield Magic, Poison Shield, etc. are still active and you cannot accept spells that are touch cast on you. If someone touch casts a spell on you the defense goes off and the spell is negated, even if it is beneficial to you.
Dead (need a life spell): Almost all effects end except: Gadabari curse, forget-it-well, forget-me-not and enslavement.
