We have received some news of the goings on within the city. I will note that I cannot verify any of this information at this time due to the lockdown on the gates. So please consider everything here to be only what is reported and not what is truth.
We have always tried to share information, and I admit I hesitated to share this information because of its uncertainty, but I believe it is better that everyone knows what is being reported.
It has been reported that the Duke and Duchess Surion have been officially convicted of slavery, profiteering and murder. And that the Duchess has additionally been convicted of necromancy and pandering.
Both have reportedly been stripped of all titles and lands and are to be executed.
I do not know the timing of the trial or the sentence, but this is the reports that are coming out of the city. If any of this information is incorrect, I will most certainly correct it at the earliest opportunity.

Bliss,
I will do what I can to corroborate this for you. I will contact you as soon as I hear something back.

With the opening of the city gates, I have only had the news confirmed so far, so additional corroboration is always useful. The former Duke and Duchess are, per those in the city for the trials, scheduled to be executed. The Royal Guild of Lorringar was a key factor in rooting out the crimes. A Count was reportedly executed, but I do not know his name to memory.
So any additional information, Eileen, would be most useful. I try not to involve myself, or MAG in these affairs, but it seemed necessary to provide what information we had to the town.

I will see what I can find out about what happened to bring about the current events. I have been researching other things at the RGOL for the past few months so I have been very distracted but I will change focus and see what I learn before leaving for Caledore next month.

Thank you for getting that information out for me Bliss. It's been... quite a month. The Count who was executed was Canaldion Fayet. He is now waiting in the dungeons for exile. The former Duke and Duchess are in the dungeons too, awaiting their execution. If they resurrect they too will be exiled.
From how it was explained to me, what started this whole thing was that the former Duke and Duchess found out that one of their crimes had been discovered. They knew it was going to go badly for them if it got out, so operation elaborate distraction. All of this has something to do with the old feud between House Surion and House Dubbison. The exact nature of this crime is something I don't want to discuss here on this tree. But from the charges, I would guess during the investigation they discovered more crimes.
It was the Researcher Guild of Loringarr, not Royal Guild who helped with this investigation. I shouldn't have just abbreviated. Sorry for that mix up. It was only fitting that they should help clean up this mess, since it was prominent members of their guild who did the dirty work for the former Duke and Duchess. But everyone in the city who was involved has been found out, and everyone else has been found innocent.
I'll try to keep people updated on what's going on. There are still things that need sorting out in the city, and I'll be doing my best to make sure this time of transition goes peacefully, and to ensure that peace will last.

I feel like I should point out that the Researchers Guild is very large, and it was only a handful of members who participated in the crime. Those have been found, and all the rest of the members had nothing to do with it. I think in my last message I may have laid the blame at their feet, and that was not my intention.

Thank you for the corrections and the information, Ephany. I wasn't going to give your name if you were unwilling to publicly. As for the RGOL, that was my own error.

I don't mind. Only reason I didn't say anything myself was because I was stuck in the city at the time. I'm just glad to see that you were getting my letters.

Bliss, given everything that was going on at the time, that's not surprising. Everyone was a suspect. I do appreciate your caution at not sharing my name. It was probably wise.
Eileen, best of luck on your information hunt. There is a lot I don't know, and while I'm still seeking more answers, another perspective is always good, and I know you probably know more people there than I do. Maybe we can meet for a meal and compare notes.

Ephany,
I would greatly appreciate that. I have little to offer in my notes currently but am hoping that can soon change. I will be re-opening Book Club when we are all in Midway again and I would be glad to have you as a part of it.

Well, I'm going to have to retract the majority of what I said on this. It turns out my memory of events was altered. The only things that were accurate were the convictions, and the execution.
